Sleep

Isn't it a wonderful thing to be able to snuggle up in a warm bed and sleep.  I know that I look forward to it but have a question for you all!  We have heard that when a dog sleeps on his back it means that they are very comfortable and secure in their surroundings??  While it makes sense, how can that be comfortable for them?  Hoke will sleep on his back for hours on end...sometimes starting on his side and wiggle wiggle wiggle until he's completely on his back with all 4 paws in the air!!  If we wake up and find him like that, it always makes us giggle, not matter what time it is!!  You have to wonder if they are hoping for a belly-rub:)

Yep, exposing your soft belly is a sign of feeling safe. It's very comfy isn't it?

Howdy, Hoke. It's our first visit to your blog. Looks like you managed a nice beach walk and no birds were harmed in the process. So a good day. Abby sleeps on her back all the time, too. She also likes to sleep with her head hanging down over the edge of the bed [but only when she's on her side]. Looks very uncomfortable to mama, but it makes Abby very happy. Jed only sleeps on his back if he is proped up against something on one side to support him.
